Lovlina Borgohain






Lovlina Borgohain has assured a medal for India in Tokyo Olympics 2020. She has beaten NC Chen of Chinese Taipie 4-1 in the women's boxing quarter finals. She will fight her next match in Semi Finals where if she wins she can bag either Gold or Silver medal for the country. Even if she loose, she will get at least Bronze medal.

That's a great achievement for her to bring a medal for country in Tokyo Olympics. Its her first Olympic tournament and in her debut tournament getting a medal for country is a  great achievement.




About her:

She was born on 2 Oct 1997, in Golaghat district of Assam, India. Her farther is a small scale business man who was financially not able to fulfill her ambitions. Once Sports Authority Of India conducted a trial in her school where she participated and renowned coach Padum Boro noticed her and started training her in 2012. Later Chief Women's Coach Shiv Singh trained her.




Other Achievements:

It was her first time playing in Olympics games but she has played many tournaments and has won medals. She won bronze medal at 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships. In 2019 She again won Bronze medal in the same tournament i.e. 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships.

She won gold medal at India Open Boxing tournament  held in Delhi. These tournament were held first time in Delhi. Again in 2nd India Open Boxing Tournament she bagged Silver medal, which were held in Guwahati.

In 2020 she was awarded with Arjuna Award presented by President Of India, Ram Nath Kovind. This is the highest National Awards in sports category.
